Boston étant la ville du sénateur John Kerry, la victoire de Red Sox ne manquera pas de prendre une valeur symbolique pour les démocrates. Dès mercredi, lors d'un meeting de John Kerry, en Pennsylvanie, on pouvait voir des jeunes portant une pancarte : "C'est l'année de Boston !"
